My Winslow Pants and Nikko Top

March 4, 2018June 21, 2018 ~ Rebecca ~ Leave a comment

I'm super pumped to share this make with you for two reasons. 1.  This the first time ever that I've made a complete outfit.  I made the top and I made the pants.  How dope is that? And 2, this particular outfit is one that I've never thought that I could pull off and, I … Continue reading My Winslow Pants and Nikko Top

My first Blackwood Cardigan

February 1, 2018June 21, 2018 ~ Rebecca ~ Leave a comment

Hi there.  I am thrilled to be writing this post. Thrilled!  The completion of this post means that I set out to do what I told myself I'd do.  I followed through.  Hand me a gold star, champagne, or a shot of whiskey.  I did it! I swear I'm not being facetious.  I'm really feeling good … Continue reading My first Blackwood Cardigan

My True Bias Emerson Shorts

June 4, 2017June 21, 2018 ~ Rebecca ~ Leave a comment

Last year I made the Emerson crop pants.  I didn't blog about them or photograph them because it was just as the pregnancy symptoms hit me like a ton of bricks and all creative projects came to a screeching halt.  The pants were the last garment that I made before my bump really started to show. … Continue reading My True Bias Emerson Shorts

A simple summer nightie.

May 31, 2017November 16, 2017 ~ Rebecca ~ Leave a comment

The idea of sewing clothes for my kid did not interest me at all.  But like many makers, I imagine, I find myself making things I never thought I would.  Children grow out of clothes so quickly and I'm a bit picky about the projects that I take on because I have so little time … Continue reading A simple summer nightie.

My Seamwork Akita, a post pregnancy blouse?

January 25, 2017June 21, 2018 ~ Rebecca ~ Leave a comment

It's been some time since my last post, so let's catch up! I am having a tough pregnancy.  Fortunately, we are in good health.  So far, so good.  But.  Thirty weeks in and I still feel pretty terrible.  There are good days and bad days but for the most part, I feel "pukey" most of … Continue reading My Seamwork Akita, a post pregnancy blouse?

New Look 6881

September 22, 2016November 16, 2017 ~ Rebecca ~ Leave a comment

It has been over a month since my last post.  I'm bummed about this but I'm also a realist and there is just no way I can possibly have my shit together right now. I was on vacation for a couple of weeks visiting family.  This is a picture of my daughter on the front … Continue reading New Look 6881

Some things are just worth the fuss.

August 10, 2016June 21, 2018 ~ Rebecca ~ 1 Comment

This is the Odgen Cami by True Bias. You may be looking at this picture and thinking, well, what was all the fuss?  Let me 'splain. I have a tendency to make things more complicated than they really need to be.  It happens when I make mistakes and overanalyze.  In this case, I did both. My … Continue reading Some things are just worth the fuss.

Hi!

My name is Rebecca, my initials spell RAG, and I like to sew.  I started making my own clothes shorty after I quit my engineering job to stay home with my daughter.  As it turns out raising children is hard.  Sewing keeps me sane. Read more about me here.

Feeling bummed because I haven’t been able to dedicate more time to sewing. My four year old has a problem with me “being in the sewing room all the time.” Apparently, I don’t play with her enough. 💔 I feel guilty about this and then my husband tells me to chill out because she’s the same girl that “never gets new toys” with an entire upstairs floor dedicated to toys and playing. She really knows how to lay it on thick. #jennytrousers in progress... #houstonsews #imakemyownclothes #designyourwardrobe
So I hear it’s cold outside... a whopping 58F in Houston but I’m still in the mood to knit this thick cardigan...and I have to be because my son won’t let me leave his side. #oxbowcardigan #slowknitting #momlife
Hi! Today I'm sharing the looks I've picked for the Seamwork Design Your Wardrobe series. I'm being really ambitious but I think I can make it happen! Check out my blog for more details. Link in bio. #seamwork #designyourwardrobe #fabric#imakemyownclothes #imakemyclothes#houstonsews
DYW Update! With my swatches and guidance from the Week Two dispatches, I was able to define my color palette.  I picked four basic colors: burgundy, navy, blush, and olive green as well as three neutrals: black, dark grey, and a creme-y white.  I also picked a few accent colors and a few prints.  They are shown in the images as well. I expect to narrow this down a bit more or even swap out some of the prints and accents for others, once I choose the looks I want to create. Loving this process! . #seamwork #designyourwardrobe #fabric #imakemyownclothes #imakemyclothes #houstonsews
I’ve cut out swatches of 95% of my fabric collection in order to plan a little better. There are over 50 swatches. 😁 🤯 Which means I should be able to plan a few outfits without evening setting foot in a fabric store or shopping online. I feel good about this and about the fact that I’ve stayed pretty true to certain colors and patterns of fabric. Now I’m going to define a day to day Wardrobe, my mom uniform, if you will, and find some inspiration online with consideration for the fabrics and patterns that I have. Stay tuned... . #seamwork #designyourwardrobe #imakemyownclothes #sewersofinstagram #mycolorpalette #designinspiration #houstonsews #fabriccollection #fabricstash
Happy Monday ya’ll! I just wanted to share something that I started working on in September of last year. I decided to use the Seamwork Design Your Wardrobe program to plan my sewing. This is my mood board! Or at least a digital version of it. I recently decided to get some images printed out to facilitate the planning process. I’m going to use the printed images, fabric swatches and a cork board to further explore this method. My hope is that it will help me to better plan and make the clothes that I want to wear! Exciting things will be happening this year! Let’s go!!! . #seamwork #designyourwardrobe #handmadewardrobe #imakemyownclothes #houstonsews #designinspiration #mycolorpalette #sewing #makersgonnamake #sewersofinstagram
Here are couple of Christmas gifts that I got from my fam! This gorgeous lip gloss by NYX and a yarn bowl! A great pair, if I do say so myself. #knittersofinstagram #knittinghottie 😂
I didn’t quite make my #2018makenine as planned but I did make a few things that I’m super proud of. Here are my #2018bestnine
This is another #halifaxhoodie. I call it my granny shirt because, well, it looks like one. But I’m owning it and it’s super comfy and my mom would have loved it. ❤️ It reminds me of her.
I totally loved this version of the #halifaxhooie by @sew_help_me so I decided to make my own. I’ve been wearing it like er’y day. It’s a great addition to my very small collection of winter clothes! #houstonsews #imakemyownclothes #joannfabrics #madewithjoann #imakemyclothes #sewersgonnasew
